Vision Through the Eyes of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“The difference between a dreamer and a visionary is that a dreamer has his eyes closed and a visionary has his eyes open.” — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

You don’t need prescription eyeglasses or colored contact lenses to see the world the way you would truly like to see it, you need vision; the kind of vision that Martin Luther King Jr. spoke about in countless speeches. Aspirational vision. The kind of vision that inspires real action, that goes beyond the dream alone, to the spirit the dream requires to achieve it.

A Local Vision

When we first envisioned what was to become Berlin Optical Expressions, our vision was to serve the community we live in, where we raise our children, where we get involved, and care about our neighbors. BOE was always meant to be local-focused because as we understand it, making change and a vital contribution locally can have enormous impacts.

“All I am saying is simply this, that all life is interrelated, that somehow we’re caught in an inescapable network of mutuality tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.” — MLK

The way we see it, helping each of our clients see, helps us all see better. BOE is 100% committed to serving the diverse eye care needs of our local community, but we are even more committed to being present and patient with every diverse individual in that community who comes to us.

A Shout Out to Our Staff

It doesn’t really get more local at BOE than the staff behind the counter, in the exam rooms, at the computer, or in the opticians. At the heart of what we do, and on this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we have to pause and give a big shout-out to our dedicated staff, and our family here at BOE.

Without their commitment to our vision, to help us see that vision realized, we would not be able to do what we do here. I’m not even sure how we’ve managed to do it, but we’ve amassed such an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience, and all of it is rooted in our community here in central Vermont.

Our doctors, licensed opticians, administrators, customer service team, and insurance specialists are not only some of the best people we know, but they are absolutely indispensable to us if we are going to continue to do what we do, and always strive to do it better.

“We may have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now.” — MLK

Comprehensive Family Eye Care

Our family is here for your family. We work every day to provide the kind of service that exemplifies our commitment to caring for our community, the same way we care for our own family.

We don’t need any specific holiday to remind us of the importance of working together to strive for and achieve incredible vision, we are committed to the vision every day. That said, we are also incredibly thankful to have the words and deeds of others to help us see.

“If you can’t fly then run if you can’t run then walk if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” — MLK
